Visitor Visa (B1/B2)
You should Know:
Once you come to U.S. on B1/B2 visa, the Immigration Officer at the port of entry allows you to come to U.S. either on B1 or B2 classification.
o B1 is for the visitor who intends to visit for Business purposes.
o B2 is for the visitor who intends to enter for pleasure, family visit or medical purposes.
Normally, a visitor is granted 180 days of lawful stay. Validity of lawful stay in the U.S. is called status. However, it is not necessary that an officer by default gives you six months of valid status. Soon after arriving U.S., you should check your I-94 to determine the validity of your status.
